Ozone Water Irrigation Treatment for the Benefit of Avocado and Citrus Trees
What is Ozone and What Does It Do

Ozone is a gas generated on site, not a chemical, and is considered a pesticide device according to the FDA and the FIFRA Act, June 26, 2001.

Ozone Treatment enriches the water with oxygen, softens the dirt allowing more water to seep low into the root system and also sanitizes the soil keeping root rot in check. The benefits of Ozone Treatment are increases in stem and flower growth. By treating your water supply with one of our systems the additional productivity of your acreage will easily cover the cost and, in many cases, the improved quality of your product will command a premium.

Rids Root Systems of Fungus and Mold

Pilot Test: Started on November 4, 2008

On November 4, 2008 Chemical Free installed an Ozone satellite unit on a 3-acre parcel of land in Fallbrook, CA to treat 30+ year old Avocado trees with root rot fungus (Phytophthora cinnamomi). The trees were not producing fruit and showed only 10-20% leaf coverage. The owner was barely managing to keep the trees alive.

To start the test, irrigation was cut back 50% from 8 hours per week to 4 hours per week and Ozone treated water was introduced. At the 4 month mark the trees were showing improvement with new leaves, stems and flowering. The roots also showed an explosion of new feeder roots. At this time we also tested the roots and the results showed 4 out of 5 negative, confirming that the root rot fungus was under control (see test report info). All 47 trees in the test began showing new growth three weeks into the test.

The photo you see here is one of the affected trees after 5 months of Ozone Treatment. 90% of the new growth is stems and flower buds. If you look closely you can see the old leaves hanging on.

Dan Bryson, president of Chemical Free Inc., believes that this new positive increase of growth is a direct result of the oxygen enriched water from the Ozone Treatment.

On November 4, 2008 zone was used as a pesticide device on a row of citrus trees located in Fallbrook, CA. The purpose of this test was to show how Ozone technology could be used in place of chemicals to oxygenate the soil and control mold and fungus through irrigation. The Ozone Treatment will soften the soil and allow for water penetration down to the lower roots. The trees being treated in this test are Navel Orange, Tangerine, Grapefruit, Tangelo, and Juice Orange.

During the first 4 months we noticed the absence of bio-film, insects and a vivid color change in the leaves and fruit. The leaves were squeaky clean and slowly turning a darker green. The fruit surface was also very clean and the color a dark, rich orange. As the Ozone is absorbed in the dirt it keeps the mold and fungus in check while cleansing the dirt of chemicals that put stress on the tree’s immune system thus improving the overall health of the tree giving it more energy to produce fruit.

Zacky Farms

This system is plumbed to a 28,000 gallon tank that feeds Ozone treated water to 4.3 million poultry birds at Zacky ranch in central California. The well it draws from is an ancient aquifer that is very high in sulfur, bacteria and other contaminants that you don’t want to feed to birds, plants or people. We were able to treat the water, removing contaminants and odors, bringing it to tap water quality without the use of chlorine or other harsh chemicals. The improvement in the health of the birds that this simple technology was able to achieve was nothing short of a miracle.

Foster Farms

One of the first poultry ranch success stories for Chemical Free involved this horizontal holding tank installed at Foster Farms Ranch in Delfi, CA. We had achieved a number of improvements in the health of the birds along with labor savings and a reduction in feed and vaccination costs. They also experienced an increase in production to the bottom line in the first 49 days.
